Let’s break it down so it’s a no-fuss, easy guide for all you busy bees who’ve landed on this page.
Firstly, what is child modelling?

In a nutshell, it involves children (typically aged between 2-12) who are booked for photoshoots or video shoots promoting products or services. This could be for catalogues (physical and/or digital), commercials (TV or film), or promotional (live) work. With Models Direct, our jobs are so varied – take a look at our jobs board – there’s true diversity in the projects that are presented to us by our clients who call for our star child models.

Bonus info: what are clients looking for?

From our thirty years of experience helping to book our young models with clients, we’ve often seen brands and companies (micro to giant) look out for youngsters who enjoy being in front of the camera lens and are comfortable trying out new things and following directions.

So, how do you get the ball rolling with Models Direct?

We understand that we all want to keep our costs down so when we request you to take pics of your little one, we recommend that you do it yourself since using a professional photographer can be expensive. Quite frankly, you can do it just as well. Just remember to make sure the lighting is natural, the background is clear and your mini-me can be seen clearly (no fuzzy pics, filters and emojis, please).
Submit their application as soon as you’re happy with everything, and leave the rest with us!

What to expect on set

It varies from assignment to assignment but when child models are booked, they can generally expect a schedule from the client which will be shared with them (but it can sometimes not go to plan so being flexible with alterations helps!).

Naturally, they can expect lights, cameras and action, alongside potentially other models being invited to the same campaign. There will be lots of hubbub and directions being called out to listen and follow. It’ll be a busy day/set of days but hopefully plenty of fun!

Capturing the charm, vitality, and authenticity that children can bring to a campaign is what pushes us to commit to our word: that child models can do it and enjoy a part-time career in modelling. If this sounds interesting, let us know!

Your child is truly unique – which is why they might be perfect at modelling! https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/your-child-is-truly-unique-which-is-why-they-might-be-perfect-at-modelling/ Tue, 11 Mar 2025 09:06:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=4510 You know just how individual and truly unique your child is – so why not let others see too?

Children with that extra special something can really excel at modelling, with the camera often picking up on that specific sparkle or engaging smile and really highlighting it.

Models Direct has worked with junior models for almost 35 years now.

We know how to spot the children who will really shine during a photo or film shoot and we know how to find just the right youngster for each assignment.

Over the decades, clients we have worked with who have featured our child models have been as varied as Disney, the Paddington Bear Experience, Morrisons, Linda McCartney’s and Tottenham Hotspur FC.

We have teamed up with clothing ranges, food producers, holiday firms and many, many charities.

And you only have to skim through our client list and read our many other blogs to gain a flavour of these.

Those seeking to book child models approach us with their requirements and our team then investigates each and every client and assignment thoroughly.

As a fully government-vetted and accredited employment agency, we understand our responsibility to all our models – especially the little ones – and we have the necessary depth of experience required when it comes to working with children.

Once we understand more about a booking, we search through the e-portfolios of our child models, looking for little ones of just the right age and appearance – and with that special something.

This is why we need you, Mum and Dad, to ensure you have uploaded a great selection of recent images that really show your little Ben or Bella at his or her very best.

We like to see pictures where you have captured that cheeky smile or lovable laugh – that mischievous look or impish grin.

And we also like to hear from you why you think your young model is just that little bit different.

Are they confident when performing on stage? Do they have skills like singing, dancing or playing an instrument? Do they love nothing more than playing in a football team at the weekends?

If your child has modelling experience, then please, of course, tell us about that too…

But if not, it really doesn’t matter – some of our best shoots have been with youngsters who are modelling with us for the very first time.

Read the reviews from the parents of our other child models before filling in our form and sending us some photographs.

Your child is unique – but we need you to tell us why!

And before you know it, your young model could be having fun and earning a little extra income.

This is what Dan and Jack’s parents told us after they were chosen for an assignment with Transport for London.

“Dan and Jack really enjoyed the photo shoot today.

“They got to wear lots of different outfits, from Christmas jumpers to Easter attire to summer casual clothes.

“The team was really friendly and easy to work with.

“There were lots of giggles along the way.

“Thanks Models Direct for another opportunity to earn money and have lots of fun at the same time.”

Calling all Clients! Families are Making Modelling Milestones https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/calling-all-clients-families-are-making-modelling-milestones/ Mon, 10 Feb 2025 08:57:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=4353 …with Models Direct!

Families exude a kaleidoscope of emotions with love resting at the top of the list. These genuine, raw feelings within a family unit can then be translated on screen or in images, and that’s where brands and businesses step in and team up to make some fascinating and timeless campaigns.

Our modelling agency, Models Direct, is not surprised that our clients call for real and manufactured families – dependent on the logistics of the campaign. But when it comes to real families coming together to create a standout campaign, there’s no better place to hire them than from us!

Why?

We provide a diverse landscape of talent.

Our families come in all formations and sizes. Some consist of two family members whilst others consist of more.

Provide us with your brief and we’ll present a selection of families who closely fit what you’re looking for.

If you’d like to arrange a casting call or self-tape, let us know and we’ll arrange this for you.

You’ll have access to our selected families’ portfolios and see their diverse and up-to-date range of images and reels.

You’re in control as you get to choose who you want for your project. We don’t sway your decision. If you change your mind and don’t want to go ahead, there are no hard feelings! We totally get that things change – marketing visions and directions can always alter right till the last minute and we accommodate these changes from both our clients and models side of hiring and booking.

We request feedback from our clients and want to know how it went – the positives and the negatives – so that we can continue to improve our services and provide the best experience for everyone.

Take a look at our client reviews to see what they had to say about our family models:

Hoburne Holidays

How was your talent booker – friendly, efficient, quick? Very quick and efficient, great service

How did the assignment go on the day? Really good, the family were great, kids great and everyone worked well.

How did our talent(s) perform, did they do a good job? They did a great job, very responsive and listened well.

Are there any changes you would like to see? None

Would you use us again, if so, why? Yes, we would, very quick and efficient, great models.

Sanctuary Housing

How was your talent booker – friendly, efficient, quick?

Molly is always friendly, efficient and quick. On this particular occasion, we required models with very short notice and Molly was able to get the assignment moving with only a week’s notice and find us exactly what we were looking for.

How did the assignment go on the day?

The models arrived early with no problems getting to the location. They were exactly what we were hoping for and made the shoot a breeze.

How did our talent(s) perform, did they do a good job?

The Brown family did exceptionally well considering it was their first assignment as a family. We shot in a variety of different locations and they took each scenario in their stride. In hindsight, the 4-hour day was perhaps a little too much for the youngest member of the family, as you can tell towards the end that he was getting a little tired! This wasn’t a problem for us as we came away with plenty of great material anyway, but it is a learning curve for us for booking younger actors/models in the future.

Are there any changes you would like to see?

No, we are always really happy with the service that Molly and talent management give us.

Would you use us again, if so, why?

Definitely. We think that Molly is brilliant, and we are really pleased with the talent we have been able to find through her, they have fitted the briefs perfectly.

For more of this, head over to this page and if you’d like to hire a family for your marketing campaign, let us know right here! We look forward to working with you and helping you build your campaign.

The takeaway

The demand for modelling has skyrocketed with our agency and we’ve got new and existing clients coming to us for our comprehensive services backed with expert knowledge and experience in the sector. If all this sounds good to you, we’d love to have you join us!

Fancy morphing into someone different? Our Edinburgh model did just that ! https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/fancy-morphing-into-someone-different-our-edinburgh-model-did-just-that/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 09:16:33 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3627 Well, who wouldn’t like to be someone else for the day – or perhaps just for the afternoon or evening?

Dressing up may have once been child’s play but these days it has become more popular with people of all ages as even adults are eager to pull on a costume and have a little fun!

Headquartered in Edinburgh, Morph Suits offers a whole range of fantastic and wonderful fancy dress outfits, from Halloween costumes for kids to all sorts of outfits for adults.

Its all-in-one colourful morph suits, crazy inflatables and light-up outfits have become all the rage for young people to wear to festivals and gigs!

And for kids, there are all manner of Halloween outfits, party costumes and items of clothing and accessories for stage plays and shows.

They can dress up in everything from fairy wings and tutus through to furry onesies and cuddly animal outfits.

As well as posing for photo shoots for the Morph Suits website and other publicity material, male, female and child models can also be required for fitting sessions.

And this is exactly what little Aydin was asked to do.

He went along to a fitting session in Edinburgh and was paid by the company to try on outfits to help them find out which ones worked well and which ones needed adjusting.

He enjoyed the new experience and afterwards one of his parents told us:

“We were given a last-minute fitting.

“Charlie was great with providing information and details and anything else we needed in relation to their client.”

Aydin, we are glad it went so well for you – you did a great job!

And if there are any other parents of Edinburgh youngsters out there who think their little ones might also enjoy this kind of modelling work or other very different assignments, then they should read some of the other reviews from parents on our website.

To learn more about how we work and the possible modelling opportunities there are in Edinburgh and elsewhere in Scotland through us, just fill in this form and send us a photograph.

We will be in touch to tell you more!

Baby Modelling with Our Modelling Agency https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/baby-modelling-with-our-modelling-agency/ Sat, 10 Feb 2024 12:35:06 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3350 Calling all bambinos, please. We hope your parents and guardians are reading our newest blog about baby modelling.

Get your tot’s dummies, bibs and muslin squares on standby, (okay, a grown-up will help you!), here’s to babies who could make it onto the modelling scene.

The beginning

With all that contagious babbling, cute little giggles and the need to explore the world, babies are super adorable from the get-go. Even when they’re sad or crying, babies pull our heartstrings, and the majority of us have a soft spot for them. With babies covering a multitude of different industries, they have a big role in this world and shaping its future. Industries such as the baby industry, of course, the educational industry, the food industry, the medical and pharmaceutical industry, the travel industry, the housing market, the toy industry and the entertainment industry, are just a snippet of where the focus is set with babies.

So when these industries need to call for babies to appear in any of their marketing, that’s when you think, how did they even get onto the outdoor advertising billboard, on a website or in a TV ad?

Welcome to the world of baby modelling!

When your cherub is born, it’s quite an overwhelming phase in your life. There are so many adjustments you have to make and things you have to adapt to on the spot that even taking a snap on your mobile can feel unachievable. Models Direct knows as we’ve been in that position and know how incredibly challenging even the smallest of tasks can be when you have a newborn, whether they’re your first, second, or third. But…. and here’s the thing, if you look beyond the hourly feeds and nappy changes, there is a world of modelling that your baby can join alongside their nourishing world of growth and self-development. All they have to do is just be their natural self and feel comfy in larger crowds of unknown faces.

The middle

The idea of this might be making you feel a bit nervous but ultimately, baby models are at the heart of the hustle and bustle of a production team bringing together work that involves any one of the industries mentioned above. The target audience for babies are families and friends that know a little one, so it would only make sense to feature a tot in campaigns so that they’re more relatable and that people can make a strong connection.

These babies that you see haven’t just been plucked out of thin air to feature in world-class campaigns. They’re usually part of the modelling industry where they’ve been booked by a client who has liked their look. Simples! Do you know how much extra effort you have to put into making this modelling dream turn into reality should you want the same for your newborn? Here it is:

1. Sign up with a reputable modelling agency that has a strong legacy with happy models and clients. Ensure that they are not just a ‘showcase agency.’ More about this here.

2. Keep your baby’s portfolio up to date with regular images every few weeks as they change so fast. Blink and they grow!

3. Check our ‘job board’ for the latest modelling positions which you can directly apply for work yourself.

4. Keep reading our content for all the latest modelling scoop and news that’s hot off the press.

The ending (is only just the beginning)

Waiting for a response can be the most challenging bit so practising patience can come in handy since modelling work doesn’t always have a regular rhythm. Sometimes your baby model may find work as soon as they have signed up with an agency like us, Models Direct, or sometimes it can take longer. The decision lies in the hands of clients which a reputable agency should declare when signing up their bambinos right from the very onset.

The difference with our agency is…

We’ve been in the biz for over thirty years with a strong alumni. We put all our models forward whenever a client calls for their look and then leave it in their hands to make the ultimate decision. Our expert team aims to never miss an opportunity where a model could land a gig as we have a specialised team working hard, around the clock and behind the scenes to give everyone the chance to work as a model, not just as a one-hit wonder but on as many projects as possible. We’ve seen how our newborn models might have started off featuring with their mama well before they were born in pregnancy-related campaigns, or moved onto child modelling and perhaps teen and adult modelling as they’ve progressed through life.

Modelling is one of those professions that you can work around your other commitments and doesn’t tie you down to the nine-to-five slog. Instead, you have the freedom to be your boss and choose which projects you’d like to take on that are offered to you.

Babies, we can’t say that you’ll have that choice now as you’re so young, but as you grow, one day you will should you stay on our modelling books!

I’m Thinking of Getting my Child into Modelling, What Should I Do? https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/im-thinking-of-getting-my-child-into-modelling-what-should-i-do/ Tue, 30 May 2023 09:19:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2563
2023 has burst through your doors (seriously, how fast is time flying?!) You’re thinking of all the wonderful things you want to achieve this year, maybe old goals you’ve wrapped up and tucked away for years and have never seemed to get around to. One goal is persistently floating around in your mind and you’re thinking, “the time is nigh!” What might it be? Child modelling

Thanks for asking! We will love to answer it right here in this reading, and our team hopes this delights and enlightens you. Let’s go!

So, where do you begin? From the beginning…from where it all starts, and that is research.

Research the modelling industry

First up, see what the industry’s all about. What is the child modelling sector shaping up to look like this year? It’s good to be ahead of the crowd and in the know. Who is hot off the press and featuring where, and how popular is this niche at the moment? The beauty of MD is that we embrace all real people who can then turn to win modelling projects and earn a nice pay cheque. Next up…

Select an agency that will help your child (like ours!)

Without sounding biased, Models Direct is a fair agency that represents everyday people and turns them into modelling stars. We’ve got testimonials and booking blogs for you to explore to find out more. Our mission is to help your child grow as a model so that you don’t have to do all the chasing or hard work, so simply apply here with Models Direct. We promise no sneaky costs anywhere but a one-off admin fee in return for seeking work thoroughly. Following on from this…

Submit their images online

Once it’s been set up, add and share your kid’s images to demonstrate their confidence, versatility and creativity. Our experts will help guide you through this process on how best to utilise this space. It’s yours to develop and grow your child’s portfolio making it a force to be reckoned with if you follow our submission guidelines and recommendations. Moving on…

Follow us on social media
It’s a great idea to know the score with our agency by staying in the loop. There’s always so much going on and we’re active on all platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok. Subscribe to our platforms and blogs to learn more about who we are, what we represent and all the latest in the modelling industry.

Extra tips our experts have suggested to help your child’s modelling career get off to a good start are:

Talk to them about what the modelling industry is and what it will mean when they get selected for work. Walk them through what a typical day would look like or better still, you can contact our team and we can explain this in more depth to you, and them, if they wish.

Explain that it might take some time for them to be selected for an assignment since the requirements are in the hands of our clients so it’s best to stay optimistic and patient.

Encourage positive self-talk and help them develop healthy self-esteem by valuing their unique qualities and strengths.

The takeaway
Stay persistent and patient, and have realistic expectations, as success in the modelling industry can take time and hard work. This means, after you’ve applied for your school-age youngster to sign up, you can check in with how their progress is going for assignments. Ready for child modelling? We hope we’ve answered this question!

Child Modelling https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/child-modelling/ Tue, 28 Sep 2021 08:17:23 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1845 Though every parent cherishes their children, lockdown has been a gruelling time full of challenges, tears and joy…

Why joy? Because lockdown has, for many, been a chance for youngsters to learn more and acquire new skills. It could be talking more, reading more books, or simply interacting more with parents or adults in the same “bubble”.

Why tears? Let’s face it – lockdown was a new experience that lost its appeal (if there was any…) after the first month. Periods of lockdowns were mind numbing to many, and children possibly suffered more than most. Take away school and social interaction, and it added up to a miserable time for the little ones.

And challenges? Just coping with lockdown was a trial. Adapting to new schedules is something a lot of people are not good at! And for children, lockdown was seen by many as a time of confusion and anxiety.

All that can be said is that if you – and your children – came out of lockdown with your mental health intact, that’s a minor accomplishment in its own right. So well done!

Hopefully there will never be another lockdown; this is just as much of a relief to parents as it’ll be to children. Summer holidays in 2021 can be seen as a post-pandemic liberation – a time where we still have to remain diligent, but without the same degree of emergency as the dreadful year earlier. Children have the chance to explore new activities, creating fond memories as any decent summer holiday should. And long may it continue! Children need to be constantly learning, enjoying life, cementing friendships and making new ones.

It’s this ideology that makes child modelling a win-win situation for both child and parent. We place a huge emphasis on safety, and this is seen more in child modelling than any other category. It’s true that a lot of our clients are looking for personable, outgoing children for a wide range of modelling jobs, and it’s equally true that their safety is paramount. After we’ve verified our client’s reputation and location, we actively encourage adult models to bring along a friend to their assignments. When it comes to children, parental or guardian accompaniment is essential; parents should expect nothing else.

We’ve placed literally hundreds of children in exciting modelling jobs throughout the UK. We’re proud of the feedback and enjoy hearing the success stories from the parents.

Take young Callice, Henry, Holly and Georgina, who were thrilled to be working on a campaign for children’s meals with Jet2.com. They were able to express their talent for a notable airline whilst working with professional photographers in a safe environment. The fees, of course, only added to their enjoyment!

Clients don’t get much bigger than Sky, who were pleased to have Freya and Sophia on board for their Christmas advertising campaign. The two young models spoke to Father Christmas, and couldn’t stop talking about their unique experience all the way home!

We’ve placed children with McDonalds, large shopping centres and some brands stocking the latest in children’s fashions. Children are indeed the future, and our clients are only too aware.

Why not apply with us and your child could soon be a star in the making? Now, that would be something for them to talk about with their friends after the summer holidays…

Small steps to big success – five reasons to become a child model https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/small-steps-to-big-success-five-reasons-to-become-a-child-model/ Fri, 18 Dec 2020 13:29:08 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1591 It might be a competitive business but, with demand for child models always strong, it could well be worth exploring the opportunity for your little one.

Models Direct has clients of all types who require a steady stream of junior models – youngsters of all ages, backgrounds and looks to take part in a wide range of jobs.

Your smiling Sam might be ideal for a clothing catalogue shoot, for example, or your happy Harriet might be the perfect person for a holiday advertisement.

Becoming a child model can not only generate an income but it can also represent the first gentle steps towards an exciting career.

Here are some of the other reasons why your little one might like to become a child model:

1. To increase confidence

There is no doubt that those children who become models benefit from increased levels of confidence. Taking part in a shoot, learning to be natural in front of a camera and understanding how and when to respond to instructions will stand them in good stead in other areas of life. Whether they decide to stay in modelling or go on to develop another sensational career, having been a child model will give them poise and self-assurance.

2. To showcase talent

If your youngster enjoys singing, dancing, drama or sport then he or she is likely to do especially well as a junior model. Not only do our clients like it when children are involved in these pastimes, but the modelling will also bring benefits to their performance in these various fields. Many of the skills they learn as a model will be transferrable and the broadening their experience will help them to develop as individuals.

3. To join another family member

Perhaps, mum, dad or a brother or sister is already in the modelling business? If so, why not see if the youngest member of the family wants to have a go too? During these unusual times of pandemic, clients are often looking for models who are part of the same social bubble. It makes organising the assignment easier while also providing very natural family groups.

4. It’s simple to apply

In many ways, there is no reason not to sign up and see where it takes you and your little one. Our application process is very easy; you could then wait to see if you are offered any assignments, whether they suit you and your child; then how you get on while you are there. If you find out it is not for you, then at the very least you have earned some money and tried something different. If everyone enjoys it, however, it could be the start of something new….

5. It’s fun

It really is! Our child models and their parents really enjoy the whole experience. But, don’t take our word for it! Read what some of them have to say and then decide for yourself:

David:

“David was asked to do a photo shoot and video for Wilton Bradley at Bovey Castle. What can I say, it was an awesome day: the place was stunning and the atmosphere was relaxed, with lots of hot chocolate! David had so much fun even though it was raining and cold. The crew were fabulous, patient and very, very professional. Models Direct were also fab and we can’t wait for our next booking!”

BTS of model David in action

“What a brilliant day. The weather gods were on our side for yesterday’s video and photo shoot at Mansell Raceway. Wilton Bradley’s team were superb, taking their time ensuring they got what they needed, and David was only too happy to oblige. The equipment David had to show was varied, and he was raving about the motorbike he got to ride! Models Direct have done a great job again on keeping us informed and being very supportive. Again, a great day was had by all!”

Alyssa:

Model Alyssa

“Models Direct have always been supportive and considerate of our requirements and availability; always prompt with information and informing us of any updated details. I would definitely recommend them. I took Alyssa to her second shoot (the first time for me) and it was quite daunting for her at first but the staff for Wilton Bradley were patient and considerate with Alyssa and made her feel at ease. Thank you everyone.”

What’s Next For Your Little Superstar? https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/whats-next-for-your-little-superstar/ Fri, 01 Nov 2019 12:45:55 +0000 http://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1185 “Your daughter is beautiful”, “Look at your little boy’s eye’s – they’re amazing!”, “Your child could be a model!”……. sound familiar??

You receive regular compliments about your child’s look or talent, but knowing what to do next can be challenging – this blog tells you lots more about how Models Direct represents their junior models.

Child modelling work can be a rewarding experience for children and parents. Whilst we all think our own children are cute and adorable, kids of all ages, shapes and sizes are required for modelling work. Models Direct have clients who are always looking for children, both boys and girls to model for their latest advertising campaign!

Child models are wanted for a whole host of different types of child modelling   assignments and jobs from photographic shoots for catalogues and marketing material to TV commercials. Children are selected to promote products such as toys, kids fashion, shoes, holidays and services. Whether in magazines or on television, child modelling is a very competitive industry, but can be lots of fun for both you and your child.

When you watch television or flick through a magazine you will notice that children are used alot in advertising , it makes the campaign or commercial relatable to the customer and is a big market. Parents spend huge amounts of money on their children whether this be clothing, toys, holidays and experiences, so there is a large demand for child models worldwide.

Children who are confident and outgoing are ideal candidates to become child models. On photo shoots, photographers will direct the child, but they need to be happy to follow direction and be comfortable to have the spotlight on them. For some children this comes naturally and for others it doesn’t, so it is important to understand that not all children are right for the modelling industry. It is also helpful if your child has  an interest in other types of entertainment, maybe they dance, sing, act or play an instrument, this is a great additional skill to have and allows them to get used to performing to an audience from a young age.

Although as a parent you are constantly on hand to give reassurance and work as team, the industry can be tough and there is rejection, your child will not be right for every job they are put forward for, however when the right job comes along there will be a real sense of achievement and excitement. Models Direct are highly experienced when liaising with parents about their child’s modelling career,  we understand the importance of clarity and step by step information is provided to parents when their child or children are selected for work, we  are there with you every step of the way!

Child modelling is also a great way to earn a little be extra pocket money, earnings can vary from £150 to £1000’s depending on many factors, client  budget, length of assignment,  etc. This will all be explained to you  as and when your child is successfully selected for an assignment.

The Models Direct team make it very clear how important it is to keep your child’s photographs current and up to date! Children change and grow all the time and their photographs need to reflect that,  so we  would recommend to update them quarterly.  If your child is selected by a client for a shoot they will expect them to turn up looking as they do in the images they selected them from.

Check out the feedback from the latest junior models to be selected for work through Models Direct:

“Ace and I really enjoyed shooting for TFL. Molly’s communication was flawless prior to the shoot & all the team on the day were very lovely & accommodating – we had great fun wearing the outfits and they even gifted Ace with a cute pair of dinosaur wellies! Excited to see how the pictures turn out and really looking forward to our next job :)”Ace and his mum

Rebecca has had a superb time this lunch on set of a media advert for McDonald’s fun football classes, as part of their healthy eating campaign.
She’s had a superb time, and even managed to score a goal. Well… The ball brushed her foot as it rolled in, but we’re counting it!
Thank you once again to Models Direct for getting her portfolio involved.”
Rebecca’s Parent

The whole fund raiser was wonderful and an entertaining session for kids. My daughter was excited and had a lot of fun. Many thanks goes Molly who kept me in touch and helped me understand the whole process. My daughter can’t wait to be on the next event. Thank you ever soo much.”Joanna’s Parent

Be A Success With Models Direct! https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/be-a-success-with-models-direct/ Wed, 28 Aug 2019 14:00:01 +0000 http://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1143 With 30 years experience in the modelling industry Models Direct have helped many models launch successful modelling careers. It’s important to recognise what factors contribute to a models success other than their looks – below are a few characteristics that will help you succeed in the modelling industry..

  • Confidence.  Clients are looking for someone who is confident and can sell a product convincingly. If you’re not naturally confident, consider using one of the many self-help books or podcasts available that can help you to build up self-confidence. To renew your confidence in your looks, remind yourself of compliments you’ve received from others.
  • A ‘thick skin’.  You must be able to handle the rejection that every model faces, while still putting yourself forward whenever there’s a chance of getting the job. You can’t expect to meet the expectations of every client. Try to think, ‘It’s good if I get the job, but if they don’t want my look I won’t feel bad about it’.
  • Stamina.  A model needs to be fit and healthy so they can work all day and still look good at the end of it. Maintain a healthy diet and work out at least three times a week. If you can’t afford a gym, walking and running are great exercises that anyone can do. If you’re too busy to exercise, build exercise into your daily routine by walking to work or to the shops.
  • Independence.  Professional models may have to travel often, so you need an independent spirit and a self-starting attitude. You’ll need to get yourself up in the morning and make sure you arrive at the job on time and ready to perform. You also need to be comfortable if you need to be by yourself for long periods.
  • Organisation.  You need to be well organised in order to keep track of the dates, times and locations of your castings and appointments. Keep a paper diary with you or use one of the many online tools available to enter and edit your appointments. Keep all your papers in a single safe and secure location.
  • Willpower.   Working models can’t afford to indulge in drink, drugs or partying. You must have the will power to say NO. An agency will drop a model very quickly if it becomes clear that his or her lifestyle could affect her work – or the agency’s reputation.
  • Availability and responsiveness.  Make sure it’s easy for agencies to get in touch with you if they need to. When you have a confirmed job, communicate with the photographer/agency as much as you can, and answer their queries as quickly as possible.
  • Fashion.   Keep up with the latest styles and clothing trends, particularly those that suit your looks and style. Keep your portfolio updated with shots that use recent looks.
  • Persistence.  This is perhaps the most important attribute of all. It takes a lot of work to be a professional model! It’s no good waiting for work to come to you – you need the get-up-and-go attitude of someone who sets goals and goes after them. As George Bernard Shaw said, ‘The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.’
