teen model – Models Direct https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk Models Direct modelling agency has been bringing models and clients together since 1990. Welcome to the Models Direct business blog. Mon, 18 Nov 2024 16:04:50 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.8 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/cropped-siteIcon512x512-32x32.png teen model – Models Direct https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk 32 32 Teen modelling – would your youngster enjoy it? https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/teen-modelling-would-your-youngster-enjoy-it/ Sun, 17 Nov 2024 09:53:36 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=4167 Not all teenagers are cut out for modelling – but those who are, tend to find it rewarding, confidence building and, above all, great fun.

And what teenager doesn’t like having fun – isn’t that what this period of our lives is all about?

Here at Models Direct, our teen models are aged between 12 and 17 and can be of any background, size, body shape and appearance.

Our clients approach us for teen models in all their wonderful variety – after all, they want real-looking models who reflect our young people as they truly are.

Our teen models might be asked to model teen clothing or other products aimed at their age group or they may be required to form part of a modelling family for a shoot.

Here at Models Direct, we have vast experience of working with babies, toddlers, children and teenagers.

We are fully vetted and accredited by the UK government and are a genuine, registered employment agency.

We understand all the safeguarding issues around working with youngsters and we investigate each and every new client and assignment thoroughly.

We also require our teen models to be accompanied on each modelling job by a parent or guardian.

So, what should you do if you are a teenager or the parent of a teenager who is interested in modelling?

Firstly, we would ask both parents and potential models to read the reviews left for us by our existing teen models and their parents.

This will give you all a good insight into the kind of work we offer and what our models and their families think of it.

Then, if you are interested, fill in our form and wait for us to get in touch.

Please note down any questions you might have to be sure you feel our friendly agent has answered all of your queries during the discussion.

If we decide your teenager is suitable – and you decide we are the agency you are looking for – then we will give you an e-portfolio.

This completely secure portal is where you or your teen can regularly upload images so we can see exactly what they look like at any given time.

This is vital – especially with teenagers who change so often – as we can only put young people forward for work if we can see their photographs are recent.

If this is the case, then when clients approach us for a teen model meeting your younger’s description we will include them in a selection for the client to choose from.

Our teen models love having new experiences with us.

After his very first assignment, Rashan told us:

“As this was my first modelling assignment I didn’t know what to expect but Models Direct put me at ease from start to finish.

“I was given all the information I needed to understand what was expected of me and what I could expect on the day.

“Everyone was very friendly and it was a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

“I really enjoyed the whole experience and can’t wait for my next shoot!”

And Rianna said:

“I was a bit nervous to be working with other people who were older than me, however, once I got there and met everyone, it was so fun.

“It was so exciting and I had lots of fun meeting new people.

“It is something that I would be very happy to do again and again.

“The most enjoyable part of the assignment was getting to meet other models like me who were doing their first job as well.”

My teenager wants to be a model, where do we start? https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/my-teenager-wants-to-be-a-model-where-do-we-start/ Sat, 10 Aug 2024 07:39:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3871 It is not unusual for teenagers to consider modelling as a pastime – and it is also not unexpected that their parents might be a little nervous about it.

So, where should teen models and their parents start?

Firstly, always work with a trusted, reputable agency. That way you know that you and your teen will be looked after every step of the way.

Here at Models Direct, we have worked with teen models and their parents for more than three decades now.

We also work with babies, toddlers and children, so we are highly experienced at ensuring the work is suitable and that our young models will be treated properly.

If your teenage boy or girl is interested in modelling, then why not sit down together and take the time to read some of the reviews from other youngsters and their parents who have worked with us?

Also have a look at some of our blogs to find out more about our clients, the assignments they offer and the work our teen models undertake for them.

Next, have a good chat about the realities of modelling.

Ask your teen whether they think they have the confidence to step out in front of a camera.

Will they be happy to pose, act and interact with other models?

Are they able to listen to instructions and act upon them?

And most of all, do they think they will enjoy modelling?

After all, the most important thing about modelling is that it is fun…

If you and your teen then decide to proceed, fill in our form and send us some photographs.

We will then get in touch to explain more about how the process works.

If your son or daughter then does join us, you will be asked to maintain an e-portfolio for them, regularly updating their photos and information.

This will enable us to put them forward for any suitable work.

Suitable work means anything that is age appropriate, meets their needs in terms of the kind of modelling work you have suggested they might like and where our client has requested someone matching their description.

However, our clients always make the final choice from the shortlist of models we give them, so the final stage is completely out of our hands.

But, if your teen is chosen, we will then be in touch with you again to explain more about the assignment and to tell you where you need to go and when.

From that point on, you can call us at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

And you can rest assured that on the day itself your teen will be working with a team that is experienced at working with young people – and, of course, you will be there on set too.

We love it when new teen models join us and then stay on with us into adulthood.

Teen modelling can be a great confidence booster and a superb part-time hobby for young people.

And, of course, it gives them a little extra in their pocket to save up or spend on themselves – so what could be better!

Teen modelling https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/teen-modelling/ Fri, 16 Feb 2024 09:21:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3373 Our fabulous teenage models are always surprising us with their talents.

Maybe “surprising” isn’t the right word, as they’ve been on top of their game for many years now. It’s never a bad time to become a teenage model, as our clients know. Teenagers are an essential part of several types of modelling campaigns, and their popularity has never wavered. With their fast-changing looks and limitless appetite for new experiences, teens are vital to brands looking to get their products and messages across to a wider audience.

As we’ve been the leading commercial modelling agency in the UK for some years, we know just the right type of teenagers that are always in demand. We’ve built strong business relationships with thousands of brands, and they come to us in the first instance whenever they need a particular model (or groups of model). They rely on us to get their promotions and campaigns off to a winning start, and that start often comes in the form of putting forward models for them to choose from.

Teenagers are no different to adult or baby models in that respect. We closely follow a client’s brief to recommend the models we think will be the most beneficial, which in itself is a fantastic reason to join us as a model. Clients come to us – not the other way around – so registered models always have the very best chance in securing top modelling assignments. There is no third party involvement, and all our clients have been stringently checked before we commit to anything.

Applying with us couldn’t be simpler. We just need a couple of photos that can be taken with a Smartphone, and two minute’s of a parent / guardian’s time in completing the online application form. This is vital, as joining an agency shouldn’t be done on a whim. Teens should discuss it with a parent, and they need to know that gaining regular work isn’t guaranteed, as the final choice has always been the client’s. However, teens will be in the best position to be presented to well-known brands throughout the country – and all for as little as £1 / week. It beats paying for expensive photographers or joining insincere setups that promise work with absolutely no intentions of finding models work; not all agencies do this, but there are some around.

Teens have many experiences that contribute to their growing list of life skills: physical development, experimentation, mental maturity, strengthening of social awareness, promotion of work ethics…this list goes on. These can all help anyone in their teenage years with modelling.  Teens can make new friends on set and gain contacts to help boost their fledging careers. Plus, we encourage all teens to be accompanied by parents or adult chaperones whilst on assignments.

If you’re curious about some of the types of teenager looks that have landed modelling jobs, take a quick look here. As you can see, just about any teenager with the desire to become one our next Models Direct models can realise their dreams. The teenage models here were definitely pleased they applied with us.

We’re here to present the best teenage models to our clients. If you or your parents / guardians have any queries about us or the commercial modelling business, you can contact us anytime during our opening hours here at Models Direct Head Office in Norwich.

We look forward to seeing you.

Your Teeth and Braces https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/your-teeth-and-braces/ Tue, 26 Sep 2023 07:44:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2895 Teeth are breaking headlines (not themselves literally, mind you), and we’re wanting them straighter, whiter and brighter. According to the British Orthodontic Society, around 200,000 adults and teens get orthodontic treatment every year so braces are very much having a major moment. If you’re a wearer, you’re definitely not alone!

Models Direct checked out who’s been in the orthodontist’s chair and interestingly a good few famous faces popped up with their shiny brackets and wires – Kylie Jenner, Tom Cruise, Christiano Ronaldo, Emma Watson and Gwen Stefani to name but a few.

Braces can help fix major dental problems such as overcrowding of teeth and correcting a misaligned bite. Aesthetically, they become part of who you are for the duration you house them. Once they’re off, it can feel pretty weird – as though something is bare and missing.

If you’re a model you can showcase them as part of your look. Our specialised category that focuses on models’ unique features and characteristics can have you and your braces beaming with your gorgeous smile accompanied by the shiny stuff. Chances are, you might be selected by a dental company to promote their products and services! So now we swiftly move on to how to brush your teeth with braces because let’s face it, for those who have worn them (hands up anyone?), it’s a tricky business. It doesn’t mean it can’t be done but it does mean it’ll take time.

Whether you have fixed or removable braces, the key is being consistent and extremely thorough. Always follow the advice of your orthodontist, dentist and hygienist about your oral care with braces because it makes it a little bit more hard work. Every time you eat, food particles may snuggle into and around your braces which could cause tooth discolouration, plaque and decay. With all the possible issues you may be dealing with your braces (i.e. tightening the wire, brackets rubbing against your mouth, mouth ulcers), don’t neglect supervision.

The best method of brushing with braces

Food loves to sit within the nooks and crannies of your teeth at the best of times. What about when you have braces? Food particles find their way into more difficult-to-reach spaces, in, and around your brackets and wires. We know it’s a pain but once you get the hang of a good oral regime, you’ll be well on your way to pearly whites, with and eventually without braces.

First things first, rinse your mouth with water to help loosen up food that might be wedged in your teeth and around your braces. Getting rid of larger debris makes cleaning a little easier to tackle.

Next, invest in a brush that is suitable for braces so you can begin your scrubbing.
Place your toothbrush on top of the brackets, angling down to brush each upper bracket at a 45-degree angle.

Then focus on the lower teeth, and angle your toothbrush upwards at a 45-degree angle and brush.
Don’t forget to brush above and below the brackets taking care to brush along the gumline to help keep plaque at bay.

Water floss like a boss

This handy device makes flossing super easy as the stream of water has the magic to reach all parts of your mouth. You just move it along your gumline, the top and base of your teeth, and in between each tooth making sure you focus a couple of seconds on each one both from the outside and the inside of your teeth. (I have one myself I cannot live without!) They aren’t expensive either and remove food debris, plaque and bacteria in tight spaces.

Don’t forget to use a good mouthwash too, and remember to brush after every meal. Yes, we know! It’s a lot of effort but trust us, it’ll be worth it in the long run!

Psssst, don’t forget to see your dentist twice a year for a regular check-up and hygienist for a clean.
Embrace your braces, they’re a part of how you look so why not take care of them and your teeth, and enjoy the dazzle and extra dimension they add to your look? After all, they’ll only be there for a few years and hopefully, before you know it, they’ll be off and your smile can really shine!

Child and teen modelling – it’s all about having fun! https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/child-and-teen-modelling-its-all-about-having-fun/ Thu, 14 Sep 2023 10:41:40 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2899 Youngsters love nothing more than having a go at something different and exciting.

They also love seeing photos and videos of themselves having a good time on social media and in advertising campaigns and promotions.

At Models Direct we know this because we have worked with young people for decades – and because most of us are parents ourselves!

So what makes child modelling fun?

Well, our little ones love the whole colourful experience of being on set and seeing how cameras, lights and photography or filming works.

They love the idea of play acting and stepping into someone else’s shoes for a time – after all, much of modelling is about pretending to be someone else, somewhere else.

They also enjoy the attention they receive, not only from their parents who accompany them and have dedicated their day to being with their child, but also from the production crew.

The clients and production companies we work with know exactly how to look after child models, explain to them what to do and make sure they feel comfortable at all times.

And what makes teen modelling fun?

Well, teenagers love modelling for many of the same reasons as children, but they are also often drawn to it in other ways too.

Lots of our teenagers love nothing more than getting out and about and meeting other young people of a similar age or even other models on set who may be older or younger.

They also love to see the final photos or film when they are posted on line or used in another format, such as a brochure, advert or other campaign.

They love being able to tell their stories on Instagram and elsewhere on social media and to share our posts when we promote the project they modelled for.

And, of course, teenagers also love having the opportunity to make a little extra money.

Most of them like being able to buy their own clothes, make up and games etc – and earning a fee of their own can give them these opportunities.

Our child and teen models can tell you exactly what they have enjoyed about working with us when you browse through their review pages.

Then, if you are still interested about finding out more about child or teen modelling, contact us by filling in a form here and we will come back to you to explain more about how the process works!

Out of School Activities for Children https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/out-of-school-activities-for-children/ Sun, 23 Jul 2023 10:16:53 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3017 From parkour to piano lessons through to yoga and beatboxing, our nation offers youngsters the most creative experiences to help them develop into talented humans. Models Direct are taking a look at how out of school activities could be a bonus in the world of child modelling. Here goes!

Opening a world of opportunities

School’s almost out for summer, and children will be looking forward to getting some downtime after dealing with the turbulent experience of the pandemic. The impact it has had on being away from the classroom desk and playground has been difficult, but children have been resilient and bounced back.

Extracurricular activities are a quintessential element of children’s development, as well as educational. From performance and music to sport and community service, there are lots of choices for children to explore, learn and grow. Not only this but for any prospective or existing junior modelling talent, acquiring new skills outside of school can be an asset as model-hunting companies like to see what sets you apart from other children. They want to know if you have the X factor and what you can offer them should they select you for paid work.

What are the benefits of out of school activities?

Here is a snapshot of what children can reap from when taking part in out of school activities. (We’re sure that there’s a lot more so if we’ve missed out on any, give us a shout on our Facebook page and we’ll add them in).

  • Learn new skills
  • Greater opportunities to make new friends
  • Develop communication skills
  • Expand knowledge
  • Boost self-confidence
  • Become part of a team
  • Increase independence
  • Promote self-motivation and drive

Inspiration for out of school activities

We’ve compiled a list of activities that children can enjoy outside of the school setting. They are:

  • Public speaking
  • Dance classes
  • Learning an instrument
  • Playing chess
  • Horse riding
  • Pottery and ceramics
  • Arts and crafts
  • Computer programs
  • Swimming
  • Football
  • Karate
  • Acting
  • Yoga
  • Gymnastics
  • Cooking
  • PE
  • Fitness and training
  • Origami
  • Martial arts
  • Volunteering in the community
  • Dressmaking

Beavers, cubs and scouts also offer life-changing experiences alongside the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. They all target essential real-life skills, some of which schools cannot cover.

As a great example, having read the latest news, the Scouts Association is launching a new merit badge focusing on money. It’s a response to the disruption in maths numeracy learning caused by the pandemic where 1001 surveyed parents stated that their children aged six to 10 didn’t understand money and lacked the basic financial skills and knowledge.

Get them in the loop

If your child hasn’t started anything as of yet, not to worry. Talk to them about whether they’d like to start something new, if not now then later. If they’re quite young, you might have an idea of what could be quite fitting to their personality and preferences.

We’d like to hear from you

So, if you’re a parent or carer reading this, does your child take part in any activities? If they do, let Models Direct know! We’d love to hear all about it, what they’ve learnt and taken away from their experience. But before you do that, head on over to our modelling application form and fill in your child’s details for modelling opportunities.

As a heads up, they will need the confidence to be in front of cameras and new people, listen to directions given, have good timekeeping skills and professionally conduct themselves. These skills can be gained from the out of school activities making them another reason for being a worthwhile investment. For a greater insight into how other junior models have got on with our talent agency, you can read through our reviews. Apply for your child today and reap the rewards of trying something out that’s unique (and of course, paid for!).

School Prom https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/school-prom/ Fri, 14 Jul 2023 07:27:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2686 Historically, school proms were restricted to US colleges, but they’ve been a standard for older pupils here in the UK for a few years. Approximately 80-90% of British schools now hold a prom; if you attend one of the 10-20% schools that don’t, chin up! It’s the summer holidays!

A “prom” is short for “promenade dance”. It’s a jolly good knees-up at the end of a school year – usually upon completion of an important one, such as when GCSEs or A-levels have been done-and-dusted. It’s a chance for students to put their feet up and look back on a hard-working educational year, with fashion very much at the forefront of student’s minds. Is there a better time for students to “glam up” and practice poses, whilst perfecting photo techniques? We don’t think so.

Just as households mark calendars for their summer holidays, students anticipate school proms with giddy excitement. It’s often the highlight of their social year, with good reason. Dressing up is like a rite of passage. When students mature, they think more about their looks and how they portray themselves. Our teen changing looks blog will ring a few bells for a lot of students out there in modelling land.

You don’t have to have aspirations of being the Prom Queen or -King to look your best. The main focus should be about enjoyment with studies for the year a distant memory; you’ve deserved it, right? But why not use the prom night to bulk up your ePortfolio – it’d be a wasted opportunity otherwise! We love to see new images of all our models, and updating your portfolio will show us and our clients that you’re proactive and keen to maintain a current collection of photos.

School proms often involve posh frocks and a make-up session like no other. As mascara, high heels and other fashion accessories are prohibited at school, a prom is definitely the night to really go to town on your looks. Students can experiment as much as they like, although a tuxedo for lads and sleek dresses for the lasses are the norm.

Such is the grandeur of a prom night that certain salons offer “prom deals” to touch up on fingernails and lengthen eyelashes. Bookings at hairdressers rocket as the big day approaches. Every student wants to look their best, and many even chose to hire a limousine for the occasion. You can’t put a price on arriving in style. (Well, you can, actually, as they usually go for around £250 / event!) But it’ll be worth it, won’t it?

We want all our models to be the best they can be. We have no doubt most younger models always look presentable, but the prom night is one of the finest evenings for students to take sensational photos to add credence to your current modelling portfolio. You can also take short reels to promote your looks even more. As long as your photos / reels are of high quality AND relevant, then it’s all good.
We hope that all our student models have a great time at the prom, that they don’t get too nervous, and that the big night doesn’t end in similar fashion to the hit film Carrie!

If you’re a student or pupil and haven’t applied to register with us yet, have a look at becoming a model with us. Just think of the fantastic fun and impressive fees to be snapped up if you were selected!

School’s Out for Summer https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/schools-out-for-summer/ Sun, 02 Jul 2023 11:24:47 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2696 Ah, yes, Alice Cooper! Could we ever imagine forgetting this song every time the end of the school year and the start of the summer break begins? The bell chimed for the final time, the school gates are open, kids – best behaviour still, please – it’s time to run home and chill for the next six weeks.
Or, if you want, set yourself up to learn some new skills alongside relaxing, enjoying the warm weather, break from your school routine, late nights, and late mornings. Got anything in mind?

It can be a bit challenging to figure out what you want to learn especially if you just want to do absolutely nothing. After all, you’ve been studying hard since September and all you want to do is go on TikTok, YT shorts and Netflix! We don’t blame you! Down time is extremely essential for your well-being but as there are so many weeks ahead, learning a skill doesn’t have to mean burying your head in another book or studying hard. It could be something, anything, small or big. It’s your choice. But after the summer break is over, you can look back and be proud that you achieved something out of the box.
Here are some great ideas:

Modelling

Yes! We had to put this at the top of the list. Children of all ages can have a child modelling career alongside their educational one. Kids, tweens, teens, or little ones can become models! Assignments come in fast and you’re in control of which one to pursue. If you’ve got exams coming up, booster classes to attend or simply just cannot make it, then you can let your agency know (like Models Direct, because we’re chill like that!) Modelling is great for developing interpersonal skills such as communication, time management, concentration and listening skills.

Photography

You might know how to work your posts and reels, to fire up all your socials but taking a photography class might be a great idea to learn the art of taking incredible snaps. You might be able to up-level your profile with picture-perfect images and gain extra skills in studio and darkroom practices, digital imagery, photography techniques, equipment and tech usage, and developing a photographic style.

Digital art and design

Digital media is making noise so it would be great to go where the sound is beating the loudest. Children can learn new digital art skills by understanding how to use software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create graphics, logos, and other digital art over the summer.

Foreign languages

One of Models Direct’s favs! Learning a foreign language can broaden your horizons, the world and cultural knowledge, and give you a competitive edge when you’re entering the job market. You can do this in your spare time with all the digital information out there such as online classes, videos, films, programs, audiobooks, or language learning apps like Duolingo, Memrise and Babbel.

Juggling

Learn to juggle! It’s fun and really good for developing your hand-eye coordination, bi-manual dexterity and problem-solving skills. Plus, if you’re stepping into the modelling world, an agency would want to know what sets up apart from everyone else! Juggling is something that impresses and entertains, so why not give it a shot this summer?

Make this time out from school a productive one. It doesn’t have to mean big chunks of learning, small bite-size nuggets are just as effective, if not more! Good luck and let our MD team know how you get on.

PS if you’re a model, having extra skills will give you more of a competitive edge and get you noticed. Now, that’s something to think about…

He was interviewed by The Sun newspaper for a feature on Brooklyn Beckham and asked to do photo shoot at his home which had been transformed into a studio.  Modelling in outfits similar to that of Brooklyn Beckham for a feature in the national newspaper. Aaron said:

I loved the whole experience, and already can’t wait to do my next modelling job. I would recommend it to anyone, not just for monetary side or the fame, but for the confidence it gives you.  My booker Molly was amazing, and I would recommend Models Direct to anyone.
