teenagers – Models Direct https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk Models Direct modelling agency has been bringing models and clients together since 1990. Welcome to the Models Direct business blog. And what teenager doesn’t like having fun – isn’t that what this period of our lives is all about?

Here at Models Direct, our teen models are aged between 12 and 17 and can be of any background, size, body shape and appearance.

Our clients approach us for teen models in all their wonderful variety – after all, they want real-looking models who reflect our young people as they truly are.

Our teen models might be asked to model teen clothing or other products aimed at their age group or they may be required to form part of a modelling family for a shoot.

Here at Models Direct, we have vast experience of working with babies, toddlers, children and teenagers.

We are fully vetted and accredited by the UK government and are a genuine, registered employment agency.

We understand all the safeguarding issues around working with youngsters and we investigate each and every new client and assignment thoroughly.

We also require our teen models to be accompanied on each modelling job by a parent or guardian.

So, what should you do if you are a teenager or the parent of a teenager who is interested in modelling?

Firstly, we would ask both parents and potential models to read the reviews left for us by our existing teen models and their parents.

This will give you all a good insight into the kind of work we offer and what our models and their families think of it.

Then, if you are interested, fill in our form and wait for us to get in touch.

Please note down any questions you might have to be sure you feel our friendly agent has answered all of your queries during the discussion.

If we decide your teenager is suitable – and you decide we are the agency you are looking for – then we will give you an e-portfolio.

This completely secure portal is where you or your teen can regularly upload images so we can see exactly what they look like at any given time.

This is vital – especially with teenagers who change so often – as we can only put young people forward for work if we can see their photographs are recent.

If this is the case, then when clients approach us for a teen model meeting your younger’s description we will include them in a selection for the client to choose from.

Our teen models love having new experiences with us.

After his very first assignment, Rashan told us:

“As this was my first modelling assignment I didn’t know what to expect but Models Direct put me at ease from start to finish.

“I was given all the information I needed to understand what was expected of me and what I could expect on the day.

“Everyone was very friendly and it was a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

“I really enjoyed the whole experience and can’t wait for my next shoot!”

And Rianna said:

“I was a bit nervous to be working with other people who were older than me, however, once I got there and met everyone, it was so fun.

“It was so exciting and I had lots of fun meeting new people.

“It is something that I would be very happy to do again and again.

“The most enjoyable part of the assignment was getting to meet other models like me who were doing their first job as well.”

Teen modelling https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/teen-modelling/ Fri, 16 Feb 2024 09:21:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=3373 Our fabulous teenage models are always surprising us with their talents.

Maybe “surprising” isn’t the right word, as they’ve been on top of their game for many years now. It’s never a bad time to become a teenage model, as our clients know. Teenagers are an essential part of several types of modelling campaigns, and their popularity has never wavered. With their fast-changing looks and limitless appetite for new experiences, teens are vital to brands looking to get their products and messages across to a wider audience.

As we’ve been the leading commercial modelling agency in the UK for some years, we know just the right type of teenagers that are always in demand. We’ve built strong business relationships with thousands of brands, and they come to us in the first instance whenever they need a particular model (or groups of model). They rely on us to get their promotions and campaigns off to a winning start, and that start often comes in the form of putting forward models for them to choose from.

Teenagers are no different to adult or baby models in that respect. We closely follow a client’s brief to recommend the models we think will be the most beneficial, which in itself is a fantastic reason to join us as a model. Clients come to us – not the other way around – so registered models always have the very best chance in securing top modelling assignments. There is no third party involvement, and all our clients have been stringently checked before we commit to anything.

Applying with us couldn’t be simpler. We just need a couple of photos that can be taken with a Smartphone, and two minute’s of a parent / guardian’s time in completing the online application form. This is vital, as joining an agency shouldn’t be done on a whim. Teens should discuss it with a parent, and they need to know that gaining regular work isn’t guaranteed, as the final choice has always been the client’s. However, teens will be in the best position to be presented to well-known brands throughout the country – and all for as little as £1 / week. It beats paying for expensive photographers or joining insincere setups that promise work with absolutely no intentions of finding models work; not all agencies do this, but there are some around.

Teens have many experiences that contribute to their growing list of life skills: physical development, experimentation, mental maturity, strengthening of social awareness, promotion of work ethics…this list goes on. These can all help anyone in their teenage years with modelling.  Teens can make new friends on set and gain contacts to help boost their fledging careers. Plus, we encourage all teens to be accompanied by parents or adult chaperones whilst on assignments.

If you’re curious about some of the types of teenager looks that have landed modelling jobs, take a quick look here. As you can see, just about any teenager with the desire to become one our next Models Direct models can realise their dreams. The teenage models here were definitely pleased they applied with us.

We’re here to present the best teenage models to our clients. If you or your parents / guardians have any queries about us or the commercial modelling business, you can contact us anytime during our opening hours here at Models Direct Head Office in Norwich.

We look forward to seeing you.

Child and teen modelling – it’s all about having fun! https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/child-and-teen-modelling-its-all-about-having-fun/ Thu, 14 Sep 2023 10:41:40 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2899 Youngsters love nothing more than having a go at something different and exciting.

They also love seeing photos and videos of themselves having a good time on social media and in advertising campaigns and promotions.

At Models Direct we know this because we have worked with young people for decades – and because most of us are parents ourselves!

So what makes child modelling fun?

Well, our little ones love the whole colourful experience of being on set and seeing how cameras, lights and photography or filming works.

They love the idea of play acting and stepping into someone else’s shoes for a time – after all, much of modelling is about pretending to be someone else, somewhere else.

They also enjoy the attention they receive, not only from their parents who accompany them and have dedicated their day to being with their child, but also from the production crew.

The clients and production companies we work with know exactly how to look after child models, explain to them what to do and make sure they feel comfortable at all times.

And what makes teen modelling fun?

Well, teenagers love modelling for many of the same reasons as children, but they are also often drawn to it in other ways too.

Lots of our teenagers love nothing more than getting out and about and meeting other young people of a similar age or even other models on set who may be older or younger.

They also love to see the final photos or film when they are posted on line or used in another format, such as a brochure, advert or other campaign.

They love being able to tell their stories on Instagram and elsewhere on social media and to share our posts when we promote the project they modelled for.

And, of course, teenagers also love having the opportunity to make a little extra money.

Most of them like being able to buy their own clothes, make up and games etc – and earning a fee of their own can give them these opportunities.

Our child and teen models can tell you exactly what they have enjoyed about working with us when you browse through their review pages.

Then, if you are still interested about finding out more about child or teen modelling, contact us by filling in a form here and we will come back to you to explain more about how the process works!

School Prom https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/school-prom/ Fri, 14 Jul 2023 07:27:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2686 Historically, school proms were restricted to US colleges, but they’ve been a standard for older pupils here in the UK for a few years. Approximately 80-90% of British schools now hold a prom; if you attend one of the 10-20% schools that don’t, chin up! It’s the summer holidays!

A “prom” is short for “promenade dance”. It’s a jolly good knees-up at the end of a school year – usually upon completion of an important one, such as when GCSEs or A-levels have been done-and-dusted. It’s a chance for students to put their feet up and look back on a hard-working educational year, with fashion very much at the forefront of student’s minds. Is there a better time for students to “glam up” and practice poses, whilst perfecting photo techniques? We don’t think so.

Just as households mark calendars for their summer holidays, students anticipate school proms with giddy excitement. It’s often the highlight of their social year, with good reason. Dressing up is like a rite of passage. When students mature, they think more about their looks and how they portray themselves. Our teen changing looks blog will ring a few bells for a lot of students out there in modelling land.

You don’t have to have aspirations of being the Prom Queen or -King to look your best. The main focus should be about enjoyment with studies for the year a distant memory; you’ve deserved it, right? But why not use the prom night to bulk up your ePortfolio – it’d be a wasted opportunity otherwise! We love to see new images of all our models, and updating your portfolio will show us and our clients that you’re proactive and keen to maintain a current collection of photos.

School proms often involve posh frocks and a make-up session like no other. As mascara, high heels and other fashion accessories are prohibited at school, a prom is definitely the night to really go to town on your looks. Students can experiment as much as they like, although a tuxedo for lads and sleek dresses for the lasses are the norm.

Such is the grandeur of a prom night that certain salons offer “prom deals” to touch up on fingernails and lengthen eyelashes. Bookings at hairdressers rocket as the big day approaches. Every student wants to look their best, and many even chose to hire a limousine for the occasion. You can’t put a price on arriving in style. (Well, you can, actually, as they usually go for around £250 / event!) But it’ll be worth it, won’t it?

We want all our models to be the best they can be. We have no doubt most younger models always look presentable, but the prom night is one of the finest evenings for students to take sensational photos to add credence to your current modelling portfolio. You can also take short reels to promote your looks even more. As long as your photos / reels are of high quality AND relevant, then it’s all good.
We hope that all our student models have a great time at the prom, that they don’t get too nervous, and that the big night doesn’t end in similar fashion to the hit film Carrie!

If you’re a student or pupil and haven’t applied to register with us yet, have a look at becoming a model with us. Just think of the fantastic fun and impressive fees to be snapped up if you were selected!

Teen Model https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/teen-model/ Tue, 14 Feb 2023 09:14:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2480 There’s a lot going on in a teen’s life – exams, networking with others, having an active social life, perhaps even managing a job, coupled with the emotional rollercoaster of having to deal with all of these life experiences and navigating through these tricky years! So, yeah, there’s a lot going on and credit where it’s due especially when teenagers have to multitask, learn about themselves, understand their goals, their vision, and their aspirations through their youth.

Despite all these challenges, youngsters are resilient and can be very focused and driven to succeed. Teen modelling can be an additional skill, not to mention a career that they can add to their flourishing CV, helping them to develop their interpersonal skills and earn money.

Models Direct are glad you’re on this page because we’ll take you through the most frequently asked questions our team are presented with by teens and adults alike revolving around this sought-after modelling niche – teen modelling.

Can you be a model at 14?

Absolutely! Modelling is for all ages. Brands and companies utilise marketing and advertising campaigns to help boost their reach and sales, and as part of this package comes a story to tell which can include models of a targeted age group. Models Direct represent all the age groups within this industry and the teen section is always a popular market to target. Teen modelling encompasses the 13-18 age bracket.

How tall do you have to be to be a 14 year old model?

When you think of this profession, you usually think of all the tight criteria that a model would have to adhere to with height being at the top of the list. As a rule of thumb with modelling agencies, a teen would need to lie between 5’6” to 6’0” however, meeting these requirements isn’t always possible. Should that mean you won’t have a chance to even attempt this exciting career? Well, no. Models Direct welcome models of all heights, despite the industry’s requirements. We break the modelling barriers so that everyone can have a fair chance of trying out this profession, and hopefully staying on as a model.

Can you be a model at the age of 15?

Definitely! If you’re within the 13 to 18 age range, then you can enter this modelling division with the help of a diverse and inclusive agency like Models Direct. If any of our clients is on the lookout for a model your age, we’ll put you forward for the job.

How can I be a model at the age of 16?

A sweet sixteen celebration (whether you’re a girl, boy or non-binary) doesn’t just mean you’ve accomplished a major milestone in your teenhood. It can also mean that you’re ready to kick-start new hobbies and develop new passions. And yes, you know what we’re going to write – try out being a model. Our ethos is to embrace, welcome everyone to our modelling agency (and hopefully continue with this great career that’ll have you earning extra cash). Whether your sixteen or sixty, there’s a place for you in this bustling industry.

Extra tip

What a teen model needs to have is a can-do attitude, self-confidence, be punctual, be polite, exude positive energy, open for feedback.

There you have it! We hope that we’ve answered your FAQs and made it loud and clear that you have to join our agency. For further information, please contact our modelling team today.

What’s hot and what’s not for teenagers in summer 2022 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/whats-hot-and-whats-not-for-teenagers-in-summer-2022/ Thu, 26 May 2022 15:51:44 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2011 It’s time for teenagers to start thinking about what they might be wearing this summer season.

At Models Direct we’ve had a look at what’s likely to be trendy for the warmer months and thought we’d offer youngsters some tip tips to help them on their way.

So, what looks set to be hot for teenagers in the coming months – and what’s not?

What’s hot…

Well it’s all about being sizzling hot this summer and going for big, bold colours.

Try carrying off t-shirts and hoodies in gorgeous greens, sky blues and even lovely lemons…

Go on! You can do it!

Most colourful prints are still in vogue and checks are also in there among this summer’s super styles for teens.

Long, loose t-shirts are bang on trend this summer season and long vests (or tank tops if it’s chilly) over t-shirts and shirts are also all the rage.

Cropped trousers and jeans remain in fashion – but with an erring towards loose fit looks rather than skinny.

But pretty much anything in denim goes this season, especially if lifted with an eye-catching top or accessory or two.

Team your jeans up with trainers – but keep these fairly thinned soled this summer.

And aviator sunglasses remain all the rage.

What’s not…

There’s not much these days that can’t be carried off by the teenager with a flair for style but models and would-be models might want to consider putting a few items to the backs of their wardrobes.

Leggings aren’t going to make massive appearances this summer, especially if they are patterned.

It’s probably time to ditch the ripped jeans too – and perhaps cut them down into shorts?

Fold away tight t-shirts in favour of almost anything that is looser – t-shirts, shirts, cardigans and summer jerseys.

This season, anything black or white really needs to be complemented by a colourful garment to carry it off.

When choosing your summer shades, big is still beautiful but it may well be time to move on from the mirror sunglasses…

And what else should teenagers definitely not be seen in?

Well, sloppy joggers are not hot.

Comfortable, cosy and familiar they may be, but they are not for wearing out and about this season.

Keep them at home for lazing about in and choose something altogether more stylish when you step out the front door.

Seven haircare tips for teen models https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/seven-haircare-tips-for-teen-models/ Wed, 16 Sep 2020 12:28:02 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1512 If you want to find success as a teenage model, then you need to take care of your appearance and look after your hair.

Going through hormonal changes can take its toll on the hair as well as the skin and if you want to keep yours looking healthy and sleek, you might wish to follow these top tips:

  1. Choose the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type

Keep going with it for a few weeks to see if it makes your hair less dry or oily but don’t be afraid to try a different product if you are not noticing any difference. The gentler the product, the less damage it will do to your hair: try shampoos and conditioners that are as natural as possible and even hypoallergenic.

  1. Ask your hair stylist for advice

The person who cuts or colours your hair should be an expert and will be only too happy to offer you good advice about products to use, treatments and hair washing regimes. They should also be able to advise you on whether colouring your hair is a good idea and which cuts and styles will work best with your hair type.

  1. Don’t wash your hair too often

It can be very tempting to wash and restyle your hair every day, but you may find that in the long run your hair is healthier if you wash it less frequently. This is because too much washing may well dry your hair out, cause split ends and result in more use of hair styling products. Save the hair washing and heavy styling for important occasions such as photo shoots and modelling assignments.

  1. Think about when you use styling tools

Hair straighteners, blow dryers and other styling tools can damage your hair with overuse. Consider how often you use them and perhaps try to limit this to once a week. Try experimenting with other styles that do not always require the use of tools – it can be exciting to vary your look.

  1. Limit colours and certain treatments

Tempting though it is to experiment with different hair colours, it is important not to do this too often. The chemicals and solutions used in colouring and bleaching your hair can be damaging – as can those used for permanent straightening and waving treatments. Once or twice a year is probably enough.

  1. Get your hair cut regularly

This does not have to mean a complete restyle every time. Sometimes your hair just needs a trim to get rid of split ends. Many hairstylists will offer a lower price for a quick removal of your split ends or trim of your fringe every six to eight weeks.

  1. Do not overbrush your hair

Choose a gentle brush with rounded ends and try not to be too heavy handed with it. Brush your hair gently for just a minute or so. Those with curly hair might find their hair responds better when only brushed after conditioner is applied. Once this is rinsed off and the hair has dried naturally, avoiding brushing can help the hair not to go too frizzy.
