*Models must be representative of consumers – and that includes older consumers. Any campaign or advert that features models playing the roles of real people is likely to require mature models to take on the roles of parents, grandparents and older people in the workplace.

*Families often appear in advertising and promotions. There will therefore always then be a need for mature models play the parts of older family members: mums, dads, aunties, uncles, grandparents…

*Many of our clients are selling products or promoting services that are specifically aimed at older consumers. These could include everything from life insurance and healthcare services through to glasses, clothing ranges and skin products. *It is generally considered that among the older generations of our society there is a certain swathe of people that has benefitted from decades of lower inflation, better workplace pensions and increasing property values. These particular older people are perceived to have more spending power than those in similar jobs who are younger than them. Brands and companies are therefore eager to entice these people to spend with them and therefore some of their advertising very clearly targets them. Again, this means we need mature models on our books who might be what they are looking for.

*Finally, our clients love working with mature models. They know that when they employ older people to attend photo and film shoots, they tend to be reliable, confident and easy to work with. Even mature models who have never modelled before bring with them a level of life experience – and very often that will simply shine out in front of the camera!

Note that we used the word “older”. This is important for two reasons. 1) Obviously not everyone is the same age, so there are indeed plenty of models older than others. 2) Less evidently, “older” models are just as appreciated and valuable as younger ones, so we refer to older individuals as “mature models” as opposed to “old models”.

Does “mature” mean models with more experience? Undoubtedly there are some older models with more familiarity in commercial modelling, but that doesn’t mean that a teenage model will inevitably have fewer assignments under their belts than their older counterparts. This is because of one reason, and it’s a reason why anyone interested in modelling needs to know: experience is not required!

Mature models, like toddlers and teens, have a specific function in modelling jobs. They can only be used by our clients to appeal to people with comparable ages. Age really is no barrier. From time to time we may have a shortage of mature models, so now could be the best time to make that first application. As we have the largest selection of clients of any UK commercial modelling agency, it’s not surprising that numbers of mature models may occasionally drop. 1.       Take care of your skin

Good skincare is vital. It’s best to start little but often so that you build up to a sustainable beauty regime. Often, you can end up purchasing one too many products (or no products at all) which can end up gathering cobwebs or expiring. Figure out what your skin type is and purchase accordingly. Read reviews to help guide you too because the influence of others’ journeys using the item you’re researching will help you decide whether or not you should be spending your money. Age-defying products? Embrace age, not mask or push it away.

2.       Don’t forget your hair (and teeth)

Hair care and teeth care shouldn’t be neglected either. As we age, our hair changes (texture, condition and volume) as well as the condition of our teeth. It’s good to take care of yourself because not only will you look good on the outside, you’ll feel good on the inside which will boost your self-confidence. If you’re a mature model, being in front of the camera will be no problem.

3.       Out with the old, in with the new

You don’t need to switch your wardrobe up so often because it’s expensive and if you’ve got clothes dated a decade ago which still fit, then perfect. However, your body shape does change over time and sometimes it’s nice to switch things around in your clothes and accessories section to help you feel your best.

4.       Love you
