We are! Are you?

For those of you who love it when the days begin to get shorter and the nights draw out faster, you can welcome autumn again. Models Direct enjoy sharing the latest makeup and beauty trends for the season ahead and right here, we have all the latest autumn trends at your fingertips.

In our modelling industry, it’s good to know what’s hot so that when models are invited to castings and wearing makeup that is bang on-trend, it’ll get them noticed. Or if they’re active on social media, they can demonstrate their health and beauty expertise.

Let’s get ready as we take you through what’s been forecasted to rock this season

1.Rosy Glow

An easy way to hold onto your summer glow, even if the winter months are lurking ahead, is to grab a rosy pink blusher. Build warmth into your makeup routine by adding a splash of this love-fuelled healthy hue onto your cheeks to reminisce the sun’s feel-good heat over the past summer which you can continue to translate into the colder season. Let your glow last even when the leaves begin to fall and the sun starts to hide earlier.

2.Earth-toned eyes

Next up are the lips- one of the most distinguishing features on the human face! This season is beckoning a luxuriously velvet and smooth brown hue straight on those lips. This is bringing back memories of nineties supermodel icons such as Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. Revisit the past with this flashback trend but with a modern twist of course – the nude undertone!

Brown is the colour our eyes need to be washed with for this season’s autumn trending makeup look. It’s versatile, natural and rich which will suit every skin tone. You can choose the intensity, depending on the occasion and what look you’re after. Easy, chic and very much autumnal, you’re onto a winner with this more natural look. Going for a smokey look with brown instead of black will mellow the tone too and bring out your eye colour – whichever it may be.

3.Velvety Lips

4.Waterline eyeliner

Upper and lower lash lines aren’t being left out this season either. This may already be part of your makeup routine, but for those who forget to colour in their lash lines, this trend will gently remind you to grab your black eye pencil and complete your look by filling your eyes. No sneak peek of bare lash lines this autumn – complete your look so you strengthen your fluttery lashes and accentuate your eye colour.

So, there you have it! Your MUA-approved autumn trends are here and we hope that you dig into your makeup bag and get experimenting with different looks. Take snaps, add them to your feeds and posts and share them with us too when you apply to become a Models Direct model.

Could you be a hair model? Follow our top haircare tips https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/could-you-be-a-hair-model-follow-our-top-haircare-tips/ https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/could-you-be-a-hair-model-follow-our-top-haircare-tips/#comments Thu, 22 Sep 2022 09:46:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=2237 We all have bad hair days, but you might be one of those people who also knows their locks can look amazing when cared for properly.

Perhaps you have magnificent hair that is a striking, standout feature and makes a real statement wherever you go and whatever you are doing.

Or maybe you have a gorgeous, shiny mane that looks glossy and beautiful, whether it is tied up or down – and however it is styled.

If so, then why not consider hair modelling?

Hair modelling is big business these days because hair products are big business and the haircare industry is continually developing new products it wants to encourage us to buy.

So, what should you be doing to look after your hair this spring season?

Here are our top tips:

1. Book a trim

Many of us may well have let our hair run a little rampant over the summer. Well, perhaps now is the time to have a little tidy up and to get rid of the dead ends. Book an appointment with your favourite hairdresser and come out feeling brand new.

2. Treat your hair

Central heating indoors can now start leaving hair dry and thirsty. Treat your locks to some heavy moisturising and deep conditioning. Coconut oil can provide a great deep treatment and there are other natural hair foods and products that could pep your tresses up. Otherwise, do your research and find a mask, oil or conditioner from a well-known producer that suits your hair type and will help lift your locks.

3. Plan a haircare regime

New beginnings – new haircare regime. Spring is the time many of us start afresh and make new plans for the future – and why not do that for your hair too? Pledge to try to wash it less, which is essential if you don’t want the natural oils to be stripped out, and opt to blow dry it, straighten it or curl it less if at all possible. All these styling techniques can be damaging. Dying or bleaching your hair too much can also be detrimental to healthy hare. Think about whether you give your hair longer to recover between these drastic treatments – and also take some advice from your professional stylist.

4. Consider a whole new look

Perhaps you’ve been mulling over trying something a little different. Well, spring is a great time to do this. As we emerge from winter and start to celebrate new beginnings, why not be brave and try that dramatic change. You might opt for a whole new style or a complete colour change. After all, if you hate it, your hair should have grown out or faded enough by the summer to try something a little different. Do remember, however, that if you are one of our models, we need you to update your e-portfolio and show us some images of your stunning new look.

Keen to be a hair and beauty model? Follow these three winter tips… https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/keen-to-be-a-hair-and-beauty-model-follow-these-three-winter-tips/ Thu, 10 Dec 2020 12:26:49 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1587 Hair and beauty account for a huge and essential part of the modelling industry and certainly offer a multitude of opportunities for anyone keen to break into the business.

From appearing in advertising campaigns and on product packaging to taking part in magazine shoots, modelling agencies such as Models Direct have clients with all sorts of exciting requirements.

Long or short – black, blonde or auburn – hairstyles of almost any kind can be high demand, just as female models and male models with different skin tones and eye colour can also be required for make-up and other advertising.

In addition to following the trends, anyone keen to become a hair or beauty model needs to do their best to look after their own luscious locks and prevent their skin from becoming too dry and flaky.

And at this time of year, this can require a little more help than usual!

Colder weather, harsher winds and constant central heating can all take their toll, so why not follow these three simple winter tips along with our other modelling advice?

After all, as Christmas approaches and we come to the end of such a difficult year, who doesn’t feel in need of a little extra pampering….

1. Moisturise

It goes without saying that we should all moisturise daily to protect our skin, but this should be done far more rigorously in the colder months. Don’t be tempted to give up your SPF product, just because there is less sunshine – harmful rays can still cause skin damage. Remember to moisturise your hands too: with all this constant hand washing we are all doing, our skin is being stripped of essential oils. Wearing gloves and using gentle soap can help but still try to moisturise several times a day. Lips also need special moisturising treatment at this time of year, so invest in a heavy duty balm. And don’t forget to moisturise your hair too. In addition to conditioning it regularly, try a moisturising hair mask once in a while. In fact, why not jot that down on your Christmas list? It will be easy enough for Santa to pop a hair and a face mask into your stocking to keep you looking your best into the new year.

2. Oil

To complement any moisturising you are doing, it can be helpful to oil as well. This will not only help to lock in the moisture but can also keep your skin soft and supple. Add oil to your bath to help soften your hands and feet. Invest in hair oils and serums to keep your locks looking sleek during

the colder weather. Try not to strip natural oils from your hair by putting your hairdryer and straighteners down this season. Most of us won’t be partying as much as usual this Christmas, so why not make the most of a bad situation by giving your hair a break from intense levels of heat and lots of styling products?

3. Eat and drink well

You are what you eat – and what you drink too! It is very easy to become dehydrated in the autumn and winter when body temperatures shoot up and down unnaturally as we come in and out from the cold. Becoming dehydrated can have a negative effect on your hair and skin. Drink lots of water, keep an eye on your alcohol levels and try not to have too many cups of coffee, however tempting they may be when it’s cold! Eating a balanced diet, with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, will also help you to maintain your natural glow. We all deserve a few treats over Christmas but try to keep these to just two or three days. Once the festive season is over, put the chocolate and crisps away, dig out the smoothie maker and try to get back to maintaining a healthy lifestyle as quickly as you can.
