So, yeah, there’s a lot going on and credit where it’s due especially when teenagers have to multitask, learn about themselves, understand their goals, their vision, and their aspirations through their youth.

Despite all these challenges, youngsters are resilient and can be very focused and driven to succeed. Teen modelling can be an additional skill, not to mention a career that they can add to their flourishing CV, helping them to develop their interpersonal skills and earn money.

Models Direct are glad you’re on this page because we’ll take you through the most frequently asked questions our team are presented with by teens and adults alike revolving around this sought-after modelling niche – teen modelling.

Can you be a model at 14?

Absolutely! Modelling is for all ages. Brands and companies utilise marketing and advertising campaigns to help boost their reach and sales, and as part of this package comes a story to tell which can include models of a targeted age group. Models Direct represent all the age groups within this industry and the teen section is always a popular market to target. Teen modelling encompasses the 13-18 age bracket.

How tall do you have to be to be a 14 year old model?

When you think of this profession, you usually think of all the tight criteria that a model would have to adhere to with height being at the top of the list. As a rule of thumb with modelling agencies, a teen would need to lie between 5’6” to 6’0” however, meeting these requirements isn’t always possible. Should that mean you won’t have a chance to even attempt this exciting career? Well, no. Models Direct welcome models of all heights, despite the industry’s requirements. We break the modelling barriers so that everyone can have a fair chance of trying out this profession, and hopefully staying on as a model.

Can you be a model at the age of 15?

Definitely! If you’re within the 13 to 18 age range, then you can enter this modelling division with the help of a diverse and inclusive agency like Models Direct. If any of our clients is on the lookout for a model your age, we’ll put you forward for the job.

How can I be a model at the age of 16?

A sweet sixteen celebration (whether you’re a girl, boy or non-binary) doesn’t just mean you’ve accomplished a major milestone in your teenhood. It can also mean that you’re ready to kick-start new hobbies and develop new passions. And yes, you know what we’re going to write – try out being a model. Our ethos is to embrace, welcome everyone to our modelling agency (and hopefully continue with this great career that’ll have you earning extra cash). Whether your sixteen or sixty, there’s a place for you in this bustling industry.

Extra tip

What a teen model needs to have is a can-do attitude, self-confidence, be punctual, be polite, exude positive energy, open for feedback.

There you have it! We hope that we’ve answered your FAQs and made it loud and clear that you have to join our agency. For further information, please contact our modelling team today.

Commercial Teen Models https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/commercial-teen-models/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 12:28:38 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1887 Oh, to be a teenager again!

The energy and expectancy during these glorious years should be cherished. Teens are more mature for their age than ever, and parents should be encouraged with their children’s aspirations. The world is their oyster, for sure.

For obvious reasons, parents and guardians are the best judges of what their children can accomplish (other than the teenagers themselves, of course). First and foremost, parents want their children to be happy and safe. Successes and achievements will fit in nicely as long as a teens’ wellbeing is realised.

Commercial modelling is a very realistic opportunity for teens for a variety of reasons. It could lead to something else; it may not. After being in the industry for over 30 years, we’ve risen to become the UK’s no.1 modelling agency, so we’re fully aware that the hundreds of “live” modelling assignments for teens might have a number of long-term outcomes. What we can confidently say is that signing up with us is the best way to get talented teens seen by some of the biggest names out there – again, we should know, because these household names are our clients! And – if you didn’t already know – teenagers are always desirable in commercial modelling jobs. In fact, they are one of the most requested models by our clients. Click on the link below for more information:

https://www.modelsdirect.com/teen-modelling/

If parents think their teenage children have what it takes to become one of our commercial models, here is a brief “tick off” list of criteria. If you can put a nice, big green tick against all of these, then the next step is really quite simple: contact us via our application form, and our experienced booking team will take it from there. So, onto the list:

Is your teen child:

·       Enthusiastic?

·       Pretty flexible around school days / holidays?

·       Keen to earn decent money?

·       Presentable and punctual?

·       Wishing to get involved in working with professionals in a safe environment?

·       Willing to travel with you?

If there are six ticks next to these points, we’d love to hear from them!

When teens sign up with Models Direct, both parents and themselves can expect certain prerequisites from us – and our clients. Through our experience and knowledge, we have a few “tick lists” ourselves. These include:

We’ll do our very best to put forward the right teen models to our clients (and we have lots of them!)

We understand that not every assignment is right for everyone. When you decline a modelling job, we simply work harder to find one that is right! You – and your child – have the right to accept or decline any assignment – no ifs, no buts.

We always pay our wonderful models within five working days. The reasons are three-fold:

  1. We collect fees from our client before the assignment.

  2. We adhere to statutory modelling regulations.

  3. We respect all our models.

There is no pressure on our models – especially our child models. We want them to be safe and happy – like all parents. But we ask teens and parents to ask themselves what they want to achieve. It could be that just one modelling job during the summer is enough to break up the routine – great! It could be that teen models wish to break into the industry with real aspirations of a career. This is achievable when signing up with a reputable agency, but all parties should be pragmatic. Long-term success is in your hands, but it almost certainly won’t happen overnight. Alternatively, teens could just want some spare cash doing something enjoyable – and be the envy of all their friends. Brilliant! If that’s the case, go for it!

If you’re a teen, we’re jealous! You have the world at your feet, so do what makes you happy. Modelling is ideal for all kinds of teens looking for something a little bit different, and the feedback from all our teens so far demonstrates that modelling makes them happy – and a little richer!

To end this blog, a few of these pointers will give teens some encouragement to enter the wonderful world of commercial modelling:

·       Listen to your parents (sorry!)

·       Choose which modelling jobs you think you’d enjoy the most.

·       Be happy in everything you do, as being happy brings about confidence, relaxation and success.

·       Don’t give up if you don’t get offered a modelling assignment straight away.

·       Please read our brief and straightforward guidelines before applying – it’ll be valuable in the long run.

For a little more insight into teen modelling – and how to apply with us – have a peek at the below link:

If under 18 years of age, we ask that a parent or guardian fills out the application form on behalf of the teenager. Thank you, and good luck!

Items Every Teen Should Have in Their Wardrobe https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/items-every-teen-should-have-in-their-wardrobe/ Tue, 22 Dec 2020 10:49:03 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1598 Fashion trends are constantly changing or evolving. That’s what we love about fashion! There’s always something new to look forward to or something old that has had a modern spin to it. There’s never a dull moment on the fashion scene which we’re sure eventually lands in a fashion-conscious girl’s wardrobe.

Teens, check out Models Direct mini guide to what we think should’ve made a home in every closet.

The versatile white top

You probably already know how much we love colour and encourage you to never be afraid to try out hot picks and shades you haven’t tried before. But there is something about having a white top in your wardrobe that makes it a perfect go-to every time you need to pair it up with a pair of jeans, leggings, trousers, maxi skirt or even your pj’s. They go with everything – a staple item that’s perfect for every wardrobe. Whatever suits your style, add a white top to your collection be it a basic t-shirt, smart shirt, lace top, blouse or whatever takes your fancy. Teens, you rock and so will your staple apparel.

Style it up in jeans

Jeans have been around for years keeping millions of wearers confident, happy, and content. They’re so loved and cherished by all ages that some of us can’t live without. Jeans come in all sorts of fits to suit and flatter all body shapes. Whatever cut you’re drawn to – bootcut, jeggings, skinny, girlfriend, boyfriend, mum fit (there’s a pretty long list and we’re sure that our teen readers will know exactly what’s what) – you’ll find a pair that’ll feel super comfy and look super cool. Jeans are versatile and everlasting so pick up a pair if you already haven’t to add to your must-have wardrobe collection.

Rocking it in sneakers

Another pair that you can’t do without are sneakers. They feel like you’re walking on air and are very much on-trend. You can’t go wrong with them as they team up well with casual wear and even formal. If you wanted, you could match this pair perfectly with your other must-have statements; your white top and jeans, and you’ll be good to go. Teens will love these, especially for those travelling for study or work.

Earn the extra cool look in a leather jacket

Leather jackets are stylish and sleek. They can be teamed up with our other key items so really – who wouldn’t want one? Teens, instead of purchasing the real deal, which is usually quite costly, you can opt for alternative leather variants such as PU and faux leather at a cheaper price. But don’t worry though, just because it’s cheaper it doesn’t mean you’ll compromise on quality or style. Plenty of fashion outlets and retailers stock amazing looking faux leather jackets that stand the test of time and make your awesomeness stand out.

With all these key statements in mind (and hopefully landing into your wardrobe soon) why not apply to become a teen model and send us over some snaps? Our application form is easy to fill out and takes a matter of minutes to complete. Models Direct are always open to hearing from new and existing models. We’ve got loads of modelling work lined up so give us a shout if you’re interested or if you’d like to find out more.

Seven haircare tips for teen models https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/seven-haircare-tips-for-teen-models/ Wed, 16 Sep 2020 12:28:02 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1512 If you want to find success as a teenage model, then you need to take care of your appearance and look after your hair.

Going through hormonal changes can take its toll on the hair as well as the skin and if you want to keep yours looking healthy and sleek, you might wish to follow these top tips:

  1. Choose the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type

Keep going with it for a few weeks to see if it makes your hair less dry or oily but don’t be afraid to try a different product if you are not noticing any difference. The gentler the product, the less damage it will do to your hair: try shampoos and conditioners that are as natural as possible and even hypoallergenic.

  1. Ask your hair stylist for advice

The person who cuts or colours your hair should be an expert and will be only too happy to offer you good advice about products to use, treatments and hair washing regimes. They should also be able to advise you on whether colouring your hair is a good idea and which cuts and styles will work best with your hair type.

  1. Don’t wash your hair too often

It can be very tempting to wash and restyle your hair every day, but you may find that in the long run your hair is healthier if you wash it less frequently. This is because too much washing may well dry your hair out, cause split ends and result in more use of hair styling products. Save the hair washing and heavy styling for important occasions such as photo shoots and modelling assignments.

  1. Think about when you use styling tools

Hair straighteners, blow dryers and other styling tools can damage your hair with overuse. Consider how often you use them and perhaps try to limit this to once a week. Try experimenting with other styles that do not always require the use of tools – it can be exciting to vary your look.

  1. Limit colours and certain treatments

Tempting though it is to experiment with different hair colours, it is important not to do this too often. The chemicals and solutions used in colouring and bleaching your hair can be damaging – as can those used for permanent straightening and waving treatments. Once or twice a year is probably enough.

  1. Get your hair cut regularly

This does not have to mean a complete restyle every time. Sometimes your hair just needs a trim to get rid of split ends. Many hairstylists will offer a lower price for a quick removal of your split ends or trim of your fringe every six to eight weeks.

  1. Do not overbrush your hair

Choose a gentle brush with rounded ends and try not to be too heavy handed with it. Brush your hair gently for just a minute or so. Those with curly hair might find their hair responds better when only brushed after conditioner is applied. Once this is rinsed off and the hair has dried naturally, avoiding brushing can help the hair not to go too frizzy.

Boost your chances as a teen model https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/boost-your-chances-as-a-teen-model/ Sat, 29 Aug 2020 14:00:00 +0000 https://www.modelsdirect.org.uk/?p=1494 Are you a young person who has considered teen modelling?

As an aspiring teen model it’s important to gain as much experience in the industry as possible and this doesn’t necessarily mean being infront of the camera…

There are lots of activities you can get involved with to gain essential experience to help boost your confidence and modelling potential. Agents will be keen to hear what interests you have, any other talents and of course confidence is key in this industry!

If you are confident, take pride in your appearance and are aged 13 to 17 years old then teen modelling could certainly be a great way to earn some extra money while you are not at school or college.

Many of those considering putting themselves forward or who have already taken on assignments through an agency might also be interested in other pastimes that could enhance their chances of success in the business.

So which activities might be ideal for a teen model to take part in?

Singing, dancing and dramatic skills

There is no doubt at all that immersing yourself in singing, dancing and acting pastimes can enhance your modelling skills. Not only will these activities help you to develop as an individual and broaden your interests, but they will bring you an abundance of confidence to help you feel self-assured in front of the camera. Furthermore, many of the moves and techniques you learn will make your modelling poses seem far more comfortable and natural.

Sports and exercise

We all know how important keeping fit is when it comes to our overall wellbeing, but it can also be a great asset to a modelling career too. Doing regular exercise will help you to stay healthy and will give the stamina you need to take on assignments. It will help your hair and skin to stay fresh and vibrant and is a great way of relieving stress and simply enjoying yourself.

Following fashion trends

Keeping abreast of what is going on in the world of clothing fashion, makeup and hair can only be a good thing for a teen model. An avid interest is certainly not essential but reading magazines and blogs and following trends on social media will give you a deeper understanding of the industry, especially if it is somewhere you see yourself eventually carving out a career in.

Photography and film

Most of us take lots of snaps on our phones but reading up on the subject or even taking a course or class at school or college can be very enlightening for a teen model. Getting behind a proper camera yourself will help you to learn what works and what doesn’t work for the person shooting the images or film – and will enable you to pick up lots of useful tips.
