So, how do you get the ball rolling with Models Direct? 

We understand that we all want to keep our costs down so when we request you to take pics of your little one, we recommend that you do it yourself since using a professional photographer can be expensive. What to expect on set

Experiment with angles

Shifting some parts of yourself or your entire body can create the best angles to capture. Set up your camera and get experimenting. Try not to take it too seriously, as you may end up stressing yourself out and not achieving the striking images you’re after. You might not get it the first time, but keep trying. Relax, stay in the moment, and most of all, enjoy experimenting.

Check your posture

Good posture is very important for your overall well-being—and more than you think! It encourages the muscles around your spine to be balanced and carry the body equally. It’s a beneficial practice as it’s great for reducing lower back pain, headaches, and neck and shoulder tension, and increasing circulation, lung capacity, confidence, and digestion. Your eyes can do the talking!

Our eyes are the windows to our souls, right? They can indicate how we feel without verbal expression. If you want to strike a pose, you can connect with the camera and demonstrate different emotions with your eyes! If you’re finding this tip tricky, try the next one.

Practice facial expressions

Researchers say there are over 20 expressions a human can pull whilst other says there are only 6 which are happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust. Some experts have even said that the latter can combine into just 4!

So, however many you can create, go for it. You can try it out in front of a mirror and then transfer it onto camera. Once you find something you like, you’ll be able to remember it through the magic of muscle memory (yes, this really exists!).

Be inspired by others

Study what other models, influencers and people in showbiz are getting up to with signature poses. Check out red carpet debuts such as the Met Gala, the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival for fashion delights and of course, an oasis of poses.

As a roundup, experiment with angles, and expressions, stand tall and be engaged with your eye contact, and be inspired by others.

And this is what Portsmouth City Council’s new campaign aims to do.

The Reach Out: It’s OK to talk about suicidal feelings project hopes to encourage young adults to see support when they feel overwhelmed.

Models Direct was approached by the team working on the campaign for Portsmouth City Council and asked to suggest models who might be suitable for a photo shoot.

As usual, we discussed their needs in depth and provided them with a selection of young female and male models who met those precise requirements.

The client made the final choice and Jenny and Elgi went along to the assignment on the day.

Both our Portsmouth models enjoyed the experience of taking part in the shoot and were proud to have been part of such an important campaign.

Jenny said the whole team was very welcoming and the photo shoot was professional from start to finish.

Elgi admitted:

And this is exactly what happened for one of our groups of male and female models from London.

Transport for London (TfL) approached us for a lively group to take part in an outdoor photo shoot for a campaign to encourage people to travel on two wheels.

The organisation wanted to show that cycling in London can be a cheap, safe and environmentally friendly way of getting from A to B.

As part of the assignment, our energetic modelling team, Terency, Kastur, Sabah, Banaris and Sarina, had to hop on to the saddle and pedal away through the London streets.

Some of them admitted they were nervous to start with, but they soon got the hang of it – and they were all sad when the brakes had to be put on at the end of the day.

This is what they told us afterwards…

Terency said:

“A great shoot for TfL – a nice environment, well looked after and a good team to work with, who were very cooperative.”

Kastur agreed, adding:

“Molly was fab, communication was spot on. 

“I did a TfL shoot today, cycling from Hoxton to Kings Cross, which was daunting at first, but the adrenaline rush I got was out of this world.

“This shoot made me realise I can cycle on the roads with no problems.

“Thank you so much Molly.”

Sabah thought:

“It was a great day shooting for TfL. 

“I had a lot of fun riding a bike around London. The people were really lovely to work with.”

And Banaris agreed:

“Yesterday I had a photo shoot cycling around London and it was one of the best photo shoots of my life.

“I really enjoyed it and had fun with colleague models and the photographer.
